Beginner course on Wednesday (30min) (14:00 - 14:30 Uhr/ 4U) until
4 sessions of 30 minutes each
Groups are divided according to skill level
Group size: 4–5 children per instructor
Location: Nordbad
Pool entry included
Our beginner swimming courses aim to prepare children for the Seahorse Badge (Seepferdchen). The German Swimming Association estimates that children usually need around 20–25 sessions of 30 minutes to achieve this badge. Since this course consists of only 4 sessions, it represents an introductory or continuing step within this learning process.
Some children need more time, which is why we generally recommend planning for a course continuation.
To keep children motivated, we award intermediate badges:
Frog: successful water familiarization, swimming aids still required
Dolphin: able to swim a few meters independently, but not yet 25 m
Seahorse: swim 25 m, jump into the water, and retrieve an object
Children are placed in appropriate groups according to their performance level to avoid over- or under-challenging. At the end of each course, parents receive feedback on their child’s progress. Children who achieve the Seahorse Badge may move on to our advanced courses; all others continue in the beginner program.
Note on the summer season:
This course intentionally includes only 4 sessions, as the summer season begins immediately afterward. During the summer season, course times may shift slightly (e.g. by about 30 minutes). However, the swimming course will continue seamlessly after this period.
