Due to new regulations at the Nordbad swimming pool in Darmstadt, we are currently coordinating when a new parent-child course can start. It has been confirmed that the course will start in May 2026. We also hope to be able to start as early as January – this is currently being clarified.

This course is suitable for children from the age of 4 and serves as ideal preparation for later entry into the beginners' course

Our parent-child course is aimed specifically at children who still need support to feel comfortable in a swimming course without being accompanied. Together with a parent, we lay the foundation for later swimming lessons in a playful and relaxed atmosphere and work to take away the children's shyness in front of the water. We focus on important elements of water habituation, in which the children learn to get used to the properties of the water - such as temperature, buoyancy and resistance - and gradually reduce their fears.

The goals of the course include playful immersion, opening their eyes under water and trusting in the element of water. The children learn that splashes and small waves are not a cause for concern and learn how the water carries them, for example with aids such as swimming boards or pool noodles. In addition, they practice jumping into chest-deep water - initially with support - and exhaling safely under water.

Through the close contact with the parents and the playful approach, the water becomes a familiar element for the children, in which they feel safe and comfortable. These experiences create the perfect basis for later entry into a beginner swimming course, where the children can learn to swim independently.
